BDV celebrates its AGM
On 28 & 29 September, the German Vending Association (BDV) convened its AGM in the Westin Bellevue Hotel in Dresden.
The Annual General Assembly (AGM) returned to Dresden, a city that hosted it nearly one decade ago. On the first day, three workshops were organised for operators with the following topics: “What CEOs need to know”, “Cash management and fiscal requirements” and “Social media, a tool to connect with your customers”. This part of the event is always regarded as very useful, because it offers a platform to operators to exchange with experts and to ask specific questions related to their daily business. Then, the famous “Rustikaler Abend” closed the first day with an excellent buffet of German specialities in the beer brewery Watzke; the relaxed atmosphere throughout the evening was very beneficial for networking and the guests enjoyed it.
On the second day, the chairman Karl-Heinz Blum, the Vice-President Udo Gast and the CEO of the BDV Aris Kaschefi, presented the BDV activities of the last year, explaining the lobbying successes and presenting the accounts of the Association. Afterwards, Susanne Breitenbach from Huhtamaki (and BDV board member), as well as Thorsten Plutta from the trade association Pro-S-Pack gave an interesting speech about single-use and non-single use cups, and the recycling chain of paper/plastic cups. Both explained that using one’s own china cup at a coffee machine is not necessarily more environmentally-friendly. Also Günter Maas from CPI made a presentation about the increasing use of cashless payment systems in vending and the benefits that are linked to it. After the lunch break, the keynote speaker Frank Behrendt gave an inspiring speech during which he explained that people should love their life rather than their job.
Finally, the whole event was closed with a wonderful dinner at the Königstein castle close to the Czech border where people had the chance to spend a good time with the vending family and to make business contacts.
